Orpheum Theater to Close Out Free Film Series with Six Classics

The Orpheum Theater will wrap up its free film series with six screenings throughout the month of August.

The series, which was launched earlier this summer, has been a fundraiser for the Tipitina’s Foundation. Past editions have featured screenings of classic films like Dazaed and Confused, Jaws and The Breakfast Club.

The upcoming showings will take place every Monday and Tuesday through August 23, when the series will wrap up with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Other films on the schedule include West Side Story, Caddyshack, An American in Paris, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Mary Poppins.

Doors for the screenings will open at 6pm each day, and moviegoers are welcome to dress up in the spirit of the film they attend. Tickets for the free shows will be allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Orpheum’s box office starting one hour before each screening.

All concession proceeds from the Monday night screenings will benefit the Tipitina’s Foundation, a local non-profit that is co-chaired by Orpheum Theater co-owners Roland and Mary von Kurnatowski.
