Outlaw Music Festival cancels New Orleans area stop

The New Orleans area edition of the Outlaw Music Festival has been cancelled. A post on the event’s website reads, “Due to a tour scheduling conflict, the July 1 show in Metairie, La. will not be taking place. Ticket refunds are available at your point of purchase.”

Willie Nelson & Family, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real were slated to perform at the concert, which would have brought the first stop of the music festival tour to The Shrine on Airline. All of the other previously announced dates will go on as scheduled.

The news marks The Avett Brothers’ second local cancellation in less than a year, as the group called off their March show at the Saenger Theatre when singer and banjoist Scott Avett came down with the flu. Fortunately, fans of the band will have the opportunity to see them when they head to the Saenger for a makeup show on December 1.

The Outlaw Music Festival tour is a spin-off of last year’s Outlaw Music Festival, a gathering that brought Willie Nelson & Family, Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Sheryl Crow, Chris Robinson Brotherhood and more to Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA for a single day of music. The upcoming tour will feature a variety of artists in addition to those that were scheduled for the Metairie stop, with Bob Dylan, My Morning Jacket, Jason Isbell and others joining the show for select dates.

Tickets for the rest of the festival dates are still on sale.
