Photos: David Bowie Second Line Roars Through French Quarter

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and members of Arcade Fire led a second line through the French Quarter to honor the memory of David Bowie on Saturday, January 16, 2016.

Thousands came out to attend the procession, effectively shutting down areas of the French Quarter. The parade departed from Preservation Hall and made its way to the river, stopping at One Eyed Jack’s where Bowie’s music was blasted outside.

Photographers Jeffrey Dupuis and Jerry Moran photographed the event.

Bowie passed away on Sunday, January 10 at the age of 69 following a lengthy battle with cancer–just two days after the release of his final album, Blackstar. The groundbreaking artist was an early supporter of Arcade Fire, and he appeared on their 2013 album Reflektor.
