Progression, a free experimental music series that takes place every Tuesday night at Gasa Gasa in New Orleans, has announced its initial lineup for July. Organizers have also revealed the details for a ticketed “Progression Presents” Summer Art Party at The Studio in Mid City.

The July schedule will kick off on the 5th with sets from R&B singer-songwriters Grace Gibson and Erika Flowers, as well as a set from electronic R&B duo A Lovely Triangle.

The series will continue on the 12th with performances by The Warheadz, a prog-funk outfit led by trombonist Evan Oberla of Allen Stone, O.A.R. and Sexual Thunder. The night will also include sets from Meezus (the hip-hop alter ego of Gravity A keyboardist Drew Meez) and solo electronic artist Lucas Wylie. Meezus’ show will include appearances from rapper M@ Peoples and 12 Gauge.

The 19th will feature sets from Los Angeles-based solo electronic artist Natalita and The Kirk Nasty, a silly circus-inspired project led by Mike Dillon Band bassist Nathan Lambertson. The night will also showcase a duo comprised of Anthony Cuccia (of Rotary Downs and the Other Planets) and Rex Gregory (of Bionica and Earthbound).

While those shows will all be free and open to the public, Progression’s July 20 art party at The Studio will require a ticket for entry.

As noted in a recent interview with musician and Progression organizer Cliff Hines, past art parties have taken on a mini-festival vibe, complete with DIY visual projections and other treats.

That event will be headlined by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anna Wise, who collaborated with famed rapper Kendrick Lamar on his albums good kid, m.A.A.d city and To Pimp a Butterfly (she picked up the Grammy for her contribution to Lamar’s “These Walls”). Wise will perform alongside her band, Sonnymoon.

Joining her at the art party will be Hines and Sasha Masakowski’s eclectic Hildegard project, as well as Brooklyn-based rapper Cavalier.
