Prytania Theatre to Showcase Works of Hayao Miyazaki

Visionary Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki’s contributions to the animated film canon are rivaled only by Walt Disney’s. For the next five weeks, New Orleans’ Prytania Theatre will pay tribute to his genius with screenings of five classic films from Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli.

The showings will take place each weekend from September 16 through October 16, with Friday and Saturday screenings slated for midnight and Sunday screenings slated for 10pm and midnight. The series will begin with Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning magnum opus, 2001’s Spirited Away. It will then move on to 1997’s Princess Mononoke, 2004’s Howl’s Moving Castle, 1988’s My Neighbor Totoro and 1986’s Castle in the Sky.
