Tonight and tomorrow night, Wednesday February 2, The Red Bull Music Academy opens the first of their “On the Floor” concert series with a double-concert stop in New Orleans at the Howlin’ Wolf and Ampersand. On Tuesday, the first night will open with local DJs Jive and Tony Skratchere, followed by the New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies with DJ Hektik (DJ to rapper B.G.), who have taken the original second-line tradition and integrated hip-hop, jazz, funk and DJ elements into the performance. Next on the stage will be winners of Red Bull’s Street Kings competition this past fall, the Stooges Brass Band, with Jumpshive, an instrumental hip-hop band that shares many members with the Stooges. Last is super-producer Mannie Fresh, who needs no introduction to the classic songs he made for Cash Money Records.

Wednesday, the second “On the Floor” concert features more highlighted local and international DJs. Best of the Beat nominee Beverly Skillz opens the show, followed by the Force Feed Radio duo of DJ Jive and DJ Kemistry. Headlining the concert at Ampersand is Sinden, a quickly rising London-based DJ/producer. Sinden is known for his eclectic, wide-ranging DJ sets and a column he writes in UK’s DJ magazine and the radio show he hosts on UK’s Kiss FM.

Selected feature sets will be recorded and available for listen after each night concludes on redbullmusicacademyradio.com.
