Red Dress Run returns to French Quarter on August 13

The Red Dress Run, an annual event that brings thousands of revelers in red dresses—both male and female—to the French Quarter for a charity fundraiser, returns to the streets on Saturday, August 13. The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

The daylong event, which transforms much of the Vieux Carré into a large block party, is sponsored by the New Orleans Hash House Carriers. The group was organized in 1988 with the motto “A New Orleans Drinking Club with a Running Problem.” Over the years the organization has raised more than $2 million for local charities through the Red Dress Run.

This event involves a two-mile run beginning at Crescent Park, 2300 N. Peters Street, in the Bywater. The first kegs are tapped at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. Locals and visitors will be served lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by live music at noon by Paperchase. All participants must be 21 or older. If running isn’t your thing, watching from the sidelines is just as fun, and red dresses are still encouraged.

Admission for this event is $65. Pre-registration is available online with a $4 processing fee. Day-of registration is cash only. All other registration information can be found hereIf you are unable to participate but would still like to make a donation, click here
