New Orleans native Rosie Tran is back in town this spring, bringing a slate of local performances alongside her newly released comedy series, Rosie Tran Presents.
Now streaming on Amazon, the 10-episode showcase is created, hosted, and produced by Tran, and spotlights female and diverse comedians through stand-up sets and interview segments. The series explores themes including identity, relationships, family, aging, and resilience.
Tran, whose credits include appearances on Last Comic Standing and the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, has built an international career as a performer while also expanding into producing and curating projects that center underrepresented voices in comedy.
She will appear at several New Orleans venues in late April and early May:
- April 23 — Oz, Bourbon Street
- May 3 — Zeitgeist Theatre (as part of AAPI Heritage Month programming and a screening tied to The Empathizer, a documentary Tran produced)
The run marks a return to her hometown as both a performer and creator, with Rosie Tran Presents reflecting her work behind the scenes as well as on stage.
Tran has been a featured performer at Netfix is a Joke: The Festival, the Boston International Comedy Festival, the Seattle International Comedy Competition, and Funnyfest in Canada. She was a Los Angeles area finalist on season six of the hit NBC series, “Last Comic Standing,” has had her own half hour comedy special, “Hanoi Honey” with Comedy InvAsian on NBC’s Peacock Network, co-stars in her own Reality TV Show with idan Park on ChimeTV called, A Brand New Yay!
As a writer, she has been featured in dozens of comedy joke books, including, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Jokes and The Comedy Thesaurus. Tran has also been featured on Style Network, NBC, Roku Channel, Tubi, E!, ABC, Lifetime TV, SiTV, TLC, National Lampoon, AOL TV, and countless other channels, including the pilot, “P-Lo’s House” with the late Golden Globe nominated actor, Tom Sizemore, and several documentary films about stand up comedy. As a podcast personality, she is a regular guest on various of podcasts, including the popular “DeathSquad Network” and has been featured at many podcast festivals, including “LA Podfest” and “Catalyst Con”.
