Shakespeare Festival at Tulane announces 2022 summer season

The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane University is returning for its first full season since 2019. Opening night celebrations for each production will include a gala reception with the cast.

The season will open with As You Like It, directed by Jon Greene and Torey Hayward. The Lagniappe event this summer is By Any Scenes Necessary: Richard III, presented in partnership with The NOLA Project. The season will conclude with Henry IV, Part 1, presented for the first time by the Festival in its 29-year history.

When cousins Rosalind and Celia flee their home for the Forest of Arden, they encounter a whimsical community in nature beaming with joy, poetry, and radical acceptance. One of Shakespeare’s most beloved romantic comedies, As You Like It reminds us love is fluid, love is forgiving, and love is full of song, food, dance, and good humor. Because, after all, love is exactly “as you like it.”

By Any Scenes Necessary: Richard III | June 22, 7:30 p.m. | One night only

The Shakespeare Festival partners with the NOLA Project once again to bring back this Festival favorite. By Any Scenes Necessary is a riotous theatre/improv hybrid that will attempt to recreate Shakespeare’s Richard III … without a script.

Preview Performance: Thursday, July 14, 7:30 p.m.

Find out when everything comes to a point at the battle of Shrewsbury as King Henry and Prince Hal fight to keep the crown.
