Shmu, Natural Blonde, Baby Boy and Ben Jones Hit Gasa Gasa Thursday

Thursday night (January 23) dystopic, glitch-pop project Shmu headlines Gasa Gasa on a bill that also features Nashville alt-country act Natural Blonde, Baton Rouge sludge-core band Baby Boy and Brass Bed’s Ben Jones, solo. Half of the experimental, Austin duo Zorch, Sam Chown (aka Shmu) is hitting the homestretch of South East swing in support of his December EP Chroma Key. Live, guitarist Michael “Goat” Gauthier and bassist Sean Padilla support drummer, vocalist and sampling savant Shmu. In addition to Shmu’s recently released mercurial menagerie, earlier this month Chown threw everything but the kitchen sink into his remix of Lorde’s mega-smash “Royals.”

Hailing from the Music City, singer-songwriter Adrien Saporit steers Natural Blonde, which released its wistful yet winsome debut album Young Man / Young Woman last year.  Also in 2013, Baby Boy put out its eponymous, grunge-to-the-core / punk-at-its-roots LP.  Current Brass Bed guitarist and former Giant Cloud member Ben Jones rounds out the bill. Tickets to this Thursday night’s show are $5 and available on Gasa Gasa’s website. The venue is located at 4920 Freret Street (map). Doors open at 9:00 p.m.
