Sober-Supportive Community, 1 Million Strong, Returns to Jazz Fest with Expanded Retreat

1 Million Strong, an impact initiative that seeks to transform the way people think about and approach addiction and recovery, is hosting a sober-supportive retreat at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival open to all festivalgoers. The retreat will include a VIP-like sober-supportive tent to enjoy craft mocktails, attend afternoon recovery meet-ups and alcohol-free happy hours, and connect with people in recovery as well as allies to the recovery movement.

The goal of the 1 Million Strong retreat is to build a sober active community in the entertainment industry—which is a space where people in recovery often feel excluded or triggered—so everyone can show up as their best selves and build a strong sense of community.

1 Million Strong is an initiative created in partnership between Stand Together Music, Sports & Entertainment, an organization partnering with cultural changemakers to co-create solutions to America’s biggest challenges, The Phoenix, a sober active community that provides free, active, and meaningful programming to anyone impacted by substance use, including those in recovery and their allies, and anyone who chooses to live a sober lifestyle, and Stand Together Foundation, a nonprofit community committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in America by driving change from within communities.

WHERE: New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The 1 Million Strong retreat tent is located in Southeast corner by the Jazz Fest Kid’s Area and Gentilly Entrance.
