With a new album, Unlock Your Mind, coming January 2012 on Rounder Records, the Soul Rebels Brass Band are currently offering a three-track EP, Sweet Dreams, of songs from the record. The title track is a cover of the Eurythmics’ ’80s classic “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”. The EP is available below in exchange for an email address, and can be purchased from iTunes Store.

The second track, “504”, should be well-known to anybody familiar with the Rebels’ Thursday night gigs at Le Bon Temps and from their other shows. The band is currently holding a contest for fans to record video of their own choreographed dance set to “504”. The Rebels are promising to make the winning dance a standard part of their live performances of the song, and will showcase the moves in their upcoming music video for the tune. Dancers must post the video to the Soul Rebels’ Facebook page with an email address by October 1. The band will announce the winning video on stage at the Voodoo Experience. They’ve hinted that they want “a dance that everyone can do, preferably something like a line dance.”
