The Soul Rebels hook up with Nas for Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival

New Orleans brass band The Soul Rebels teamed up with Brooklyn hip-hop legend Nas this past weekend as the headlining act at Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. The band played a number of tracks off Nas’s classic record Illmatic with the critically acclaimed rapper. It was an incredible performance—and a historic moment for The Soul Rebels.

In addition to the festival, The Soul Rebels were joined by another hip-hop legend, Talib Kweli, at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn that night. “The Soul Rebels ft. Tablib Kweli” sold out last minute, and included performances of several of Kweli’s hits, including “Get By” and “The Blast.”

The Soul Rebels are no stranger to the hip-hop scene. They have collaborated with Joey Bada$$, Macklemore, Slick Rick and more in the past.

Check out The Soul Rebels performing “Halftime” with Nas last Saturday, and be sure to catch them at Le Bon Temps Roule this Thursday, July 21.
