Doesn’t matter how many times you’ve heard “When a Man Loves a Woman” at weddings: You’ll get the definitive version when Percy Sledge plays with Tab Benoit at the Rock’n’Bowl’s “Soul @ The Bowl” show on Saturday, March 23. Though Alabama-born Sledge had other R&B chart hits (including “Take Time to Know Her” and the Elvis Costello-covered “It Tears Me Up”), he’s forever known for that one searing ballad, which topped the charts in summer 1966 and got him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. For this gig he’ll be backed up by Benoit, who’s well known for his scorching guitar work. Surely one to snag advance tickets for.

Show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $32. The Rock’n’Bowl is located at 3000 South Carrollton Ave., New Orleans.
