Surprise! Robert Glasper Experiment to Play New Orleans This Week

The Grammy-winning Robert Glasper Experiment has been added to the lineup for the 2nd annual Good Foot Ball, which is set to take over Gasa Gasa this Friday, January 29. Hosted by the Krewe of King James: Super Bad Zex Machine Strollers, the event will feature additional sets from Chapter:SOUL and DJ Soul Sister.

The Robert Glasper Experiment’s 2012 release Black Radio picked up a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, while their 2015 track “Jesus Children of America” (with Lala Hathaway and Malcolm-Jamal Warner) took home a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Led by jazz pianist Robert Glasper, electic fusion quartet also features Casey Benjamin (sax, vocoder), Derrick Hodge (bass) and Mark Colenburg (drums).

The Good Foot Ball will benefit the Krewe of King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers, a carnival marching Krewe–led by DJ Soul Sister–that has danced in Krewe Delusion since 2014. This group’s captains are DJ Soul Sister and Pamela “Funk Baby” Blackmon.
