Tipitina’s Foundation Donates Refurbished Instruments to Flood-Affected Junior High School

On Thursday afternoon, the Tipitina’s Foundation donated $3,445 worth of refurbished musical instruments to Denham Springs Junior High School, which was severely affected by the August 2016 floods.

The organization, in conjunction with The Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s NOLA Pay It Forward Fund, have dedicated a combined $80,000 to assisting flood-affected music programs in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

Six saxophones with cases, two clarinets, two flutes, two baritone saxophones and a case, three tenor cases and one bass clarinet case were among the items donated to DSJH.

The Tipitina’s Foundation has focused its resources on two areas since the floods devastated much of Louisiana in August of last year. Those have been providing and repairing instruments for directly-affected schools that lost their instrument inventories, and providing resources to other schools that have taken in students from flooded schools.
