Video: Trombone Shorty teams up with Jon Batiste on ‘Colbert’

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue dropped by the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City this past Monday for a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Shorty and co. treated the audience to a rendition of Ernie K-Doe’s “Here Come the Girls,” an Allen Toussaint-penned tune that got the cover treatment on Trombone Shorty’s new album, Parking Lot Symphony.

Unsurprisingly, the band was joined by Late Show bandleader Jon Batiste, a New Orleans native who co-founded Orleans Avenue when he and Shorty were students at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). If his introduction is any indication, it’s clear that Batiste was excited about the collaboration.
