Voodoo Music + Arts Experience cancelled for third year

In a statement released on social media the morning of June 10, the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience (Voodoo Fest) announced the cancellation of its 2022 festival.

The announcement read: “Voodoo Music + Arts Experience will take a pause in 2022. Take care of your krewe and follow along on social media for updates.” No reason was given for the third cancellation and there was no indication of the festival’s return in the future.

The 2020 and 2021 edition of Voodoo Fest were canceled due to ongoing restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival was expected to take place over Halloween weekend this year, drawing thousands to City Park for three days of concerts, art installations and crowds that typically wore costumes.

Voodoo Fest first appeared in 1999 in City Park. Previous performers at Voodoo Fest have include Kiss, Preservation Hall, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters, Rebirth Brass Band, Dr. John, and Post Malone. Voodoo is produced by LiveNation via its Austin-based subsidiary C3 Presents. The Voodoo Music + Arts Experience has billed itself as “a musical gumbo stirring together music, art, community, cuisine and all the mystery and adventure that Halloween weekend in New Orleans conjures up. With more than 65 bands over three days, Voodoo is more than just a festival – it is an experience.”

C3 also manages other major festivals nationwide, including the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, the Austin City Limits Festival in the Texas capital, and Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee.
