WIN TICKETS: Annual BLT Ball Kicks Off Mardi Gras Season “Big and Easy”

Although we are not quite sure what the “BLT” in the BLT Ball stands for (is it a sandwich fair or a black tie gala?), what we do know is that this racy-clad krewe throws one heck of a party. On Friday, February 28, the 2014 BLT Mardi Gras Ball takes over Southport Hall uptown. The dress code is strictly fabulous; formal wear, lingerie or togas your options. The music is provided by New Orleans dance party band Groovy 7, and your dance floor gets started with a performance from the Organ Grinders marching dance troupe. And most of all, the BLT krewe promises to bring it on “big and easy.”

Groovy 7 headlines the 2014 BLT Ball on February 28.

BLT organizers explain that the annual Mardi Gras season bash was a long-running tradition held at the Landmark Hotel until complications after Hurricane Katrina forced them to go on hiatus for six years. But the BLT Ball was able to bounce back in 2012, this year marking the third anniversary of its return.

Now taking up residence in its new home at the South Carrollton neighborhood’s Southport Hall, the bash offers regular admission tickets at $35 or an all-inclusive VIP experience at $100 that includes complimentary food and an open bar. The only catch? You must be 21 and costumed in black tie apparel, lingerie or a toga. Unless of course, you are creative enough to come wearing all three. (Wait! That’s it: BLT is for Black tie, Lingerie and Togas) For advance tickets and more information, visit www.BLTball.com.

The 2014 BLT Mardi Gras Ball takes place Friday, February 28 from 9 p.m.until 2 a.m. at Southport Hall, located at 200 Monticello Avenue (map).
