Woodenhead will welcome special guest Helen Gillet for a special show at Chickie Wah Wah on Friday, March 4.

The experimental cellist will play a set of her own music before joining the progressive rock outfit when they take the stage for their headlining set. Also performing will be the Charlie Wooten Trio with Doug Belote and Derwin “Big D” Perkins, who play the night’s opening set.

Woodenhead celebrated four decades as a unit last year, and the band appeared on the cover of the May issue of OffBeat. Brett Milano’s retrospective on the group aptly describes them as, “a band with no commercial potential—and damn proud of it…the last of a dying breed.”
