Marsalis is putting a special program together for the concert.

“We’ll be playing a lot of New Orleans music,” says Marsalis. “Some pieces from Duke’s New Orleans Suite, some pieces that Victor Goines has written; he’s a New Orleanian member of the band. We went to kindergarten together. We played together so many times and in so many concerts over the years. Our relationship with each other has always been based on our respect and love for the music. He wrote a great concerto for brass earlier this year and we’re going to play a piece of that. He has a powerful pen, man, he writes some incredible arrangements. We’ll probably conclude the concert with the last movement that is called ‘Down By the Bayou.’

“There are so many things to touch on in New Orleans music culture—some of Jelly Roll’s music. We’ll have some important touches of New Orleans in there definitely.”

Tickets range in price from $40 to $75. VIP tickets will also be available for $150, guaranteeing patrons premium orchestra seating and entrance to a pre-concert patron party at the theater including hors d’oeuvres, wine, and champagne. Tickets are available online at www.saengernola.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
