Relive old-school NOLA block parties at 100 man yoga session

Domineaux Yoga is the team behind a momentous occasion happening in New Orleans next week: the city’s first yoga block party.

On Friday, November 8, the 2100 block of Orleans Avenue will transform into a site for an homage to the old-school block party, known as a “DJ” (due to the presence of a DJ whose role it was to provide the music for the neighborhood celebration). As such, DJ Raj Smoove will hold it down while Paco Troxclair and Ze11a — a duo who recently released an album under the name “The DJ” in homage to the same New Orleans block-party vibe — perform.

Domineaux Yoga is a “dynamic, passionate, health-conscious group of young Black millennials committed to making yoga accessible to our communities,” they tell OffBeat.com. The 100 man yoga session on November 8 aims to promote unity, health and wellness by providing a free community yoga class to everyone, with unlimited space.

November 8’s event is presented in partnership with New Orleans Police First District Commander LeJon Roberts. The party starts at 6:30 p.m., while the yoga class itself starts at 7 p.m. Folks are able to RSVP for free at this link.
