The reunited Jesus and Mary Chain were scheduled to play the House of Blues tonight, but because of travel issues, the show has been postponed until Wednesday, September 5. In the meantime, we’ll have to make due with this video from the band’s debut album, Psychocandy. Hearing “Just Like Honey” now, it’s hard to imagine that this band was once England’s Next Top Musical Outlaw. Early Jesus and Mary Chain shows rarely last longer than a half-hour before they were shut down as patrons annoyed by their introverted, noisy sets, started throwing bottles. NME and the British press, eager for more punk-like sensationalism, trumped up the stories and briefly dubbed them the next Sex Pistols.
