Local rapper Koan has been a name on the radar since the release of his excellent Chronicles of a Dying Breed album last April. He got his start as a regular presence on New Orleans stages as an MC with the hip-hop/funk/world music band E.O.E., but has been performing solo since releasing Chronicles.

Saturday night, Koan headlines the “Nuthin’ But Heat Summer Jam” at Tipitina’s. He’ll be joined on stage by Sean C and DJ Skratchmo, with Jay Jones and John Smith opening and comedian Mark Caesar hosting. Tickets are $12, and the concert starts at 10 p.m.
