Zydeco Legend Lil’ Buck Sinegal to Play Benefit for Backstreet Museum

The Lil Buck Sinegal Blues Band featuring Bruce Sunpie Barnes will perform at Chickie Wah Wah this Monday, November 30 during a benefit for the Backstreet Cultural Museum.

Backstreet PosterThe event–hosted by the Board of the Backstreet Cultural Museum, the Department of Anthropology at the University of New Orleans and the Nieghborhood Story Project–is slated to begin at 9pm.

The night will open with an invocation from Sula Spirit & New Orleans Public Culture, which will be be followed by a short film about the museum. Next, there will be music from Funktrification and a visit from the Mandingo Warriors Mardi Gras Indian Tribe. Finally, the event will reach its climax with a performance by Zydeco legend Lil’ Buck Sinegal and his Blues Band. Joining them will be Bruce Sunpie Barnes, the bandleader for Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots.

Located at 1116 Henriette Delille Street in New Orleans’ historic Treme neighborhood, the Backstreet Cultural Museum works to preserve and perpetuate the unique traditions of New Orleans’ African-American society.

Tickets for the benefit will be $15 at the door.
