A New Kind of Katrina Song

Alex V. Cook blogged today about a piece of music based on what was dubbed “the Katrina Hexacord” by The New Yorker’s Alex Ross. It’s the name given the non-chord that President Bush formed on the neck of a guitar he was handed and fake-strummed earlier in the day of September 29, 2005 in San Diego.

You can go here and go straight to the Knik Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of “Variations on a Theme on the Katrina Hexacord,” the but song’s composer explains the method of composition and provides photos from Bush’s day that are synched to movements in the piece, so you’re better off to go here first.
