Wayne Foret, Let’s Do It Again (CSP Records)

Once again, the swamp poppin’ West Bank mainstay rolls with a glowingly warm set of tracks that may be his best effort to date.

Besides possessing a golden voice that’s calm and confidently reassuring, Foret and longtime pal/arranger Jake Chimento handpicked a splendid cachet of material that aren’t the over baked standards heard in every lounge around town.

Though many charted nationally, like Jimmy Clanton’s “Part of Me,” Lloyd Price’s “Come into My Heart” and “Baby Please Come Home,” and Fats Domino’s “No No,” they’re not the career defining mega-smashers each was known for. That’s the good news since deserving songs like these have another shot at revival, especially given the magical way they are rendered here.

There’s only one original, “Don’t Cry No More,” but it fits the idiom perfectly with such tear jerking lines as “I’ll be your weeping willow / I’ll be the tears on your pillow.” Foret, it seems, has the stuff to do it again any time he wants.
