Diane Millsap's art will soon be on display at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel

New Orleans-inspired artist Diane Millsap announces local art show

Diane Millsap will showcase her New Orleans-style artwork on Friday, February 15 in the city which inspires her the most. From streetcars, jazz bands, and shotgun houses, Millsap’s artwork grasps the true roots of New Orleans in each of her vibrant paintings. While other famous New Orleans artists like George Rodrigue and Varion Laurent grew up in the soul of the city of New Orleans, Millsap is a Midwest native. Despite her long travel to New Orleans, Millsap is able to express the livelihood of every New Orleans street and party in her work.

Millsap and her husband, Darrell, live in rural Illinois but have adopted New Orleans as their own. Millsap has grown in popularity over the years as her ability to capture New Orleans in its purest form has developed. Her bright colors and distinct New Orleans locations have gotten her artwork in everywhere from fine galleries to wayfair.com.

Diane Millsap will be greeting guests at her upcoming art opening on February 15 at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel and Bar at 700 Frenchmen Street from 6 until 8 p.m. The Royal Frenchmen Hotel is the perfect location for Millsap’s artwork as its structure showcases a deep New Orleans history. This creole mansion won a prestigious historical renovation award in 2017 and is decorated with diverse and extensive artwork including one of the largest displays of Vladimir Kush originals in America. The hotel is owned by noted art collector Hugh Stiel.

The Diane Millsap Art Show is free and open to the public. The event will serve complimentary wine and appetizers along with an opportunity to meet Millsap. She has donated an original oil on canvas painting to be raffled off with the benefits going to Boys Town of Louisiana.
