AXS TV To Broadcast Jazz Fest 2014 For Second Year, Airs 2013 Special February 16, 2014

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival announced today that the AXS TV cable network will broadcast the second weekend of the 45th annual Jazz Fest from Thursday, May 1 through Sunday, May 4. This television broadcast of Jazz Fest 2014 will mark the second year in a row that AXS TV provides live festival coverage for four consecutive days — the longest live festival television broadcast in the network’s history. Once again, Shell Oil presents the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Stub Hub presents the live AXS TV telecast.

For those unable to attend Jazz Fest 2014, the AXS TV broadcast will provide easy access to the “best seat in the house” right from the comfort of home as it plans to air more than 24 hours of the 2014 fest during its live telecast. Performances confirmed at press time today to be a part of the 2014 telecast include Santana, Christina Aguilera, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Boz Scaggs, Alabaam Shakes, The String Cheese Incident, John Fogerty, The Avett Brothers, John Hiatt and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.

According to AXS TV’s founder Mark Cuban, the network reaches over 42 million households and more than five million of them tuned into last year’s 2013 Jazz Fest telecast. The company, which specializes in live music festival coverage, will air a one-hour “Best of the Fest” special this Sunday, February 16 at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. CST. The “Best of the New Orleans Jazz Festival 2013” broadcast on Sunday is slated to feature highlights and defining moments from AXS TV’s 30 hours of footage from last year’s festival, such as performances by Billy Joel, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Willie Nelson, Allen Toussaint, Cowboy Mouth and of course Trombone Shorty.
