Baby Born Outside Frenchmen Street Club, Band Responds with The Beatles’ “Birthday”

NOLA.com reports that a woman delivered a baby girl outside of Vaso on Frenchmen Street last night.

In perfectly New Orleans fashion, James Scott and his bandmates–who happened to be performing inside the club at the time–welcomed the child to Planet Earth with a song. Their choice: The Beatles’ White Album classic, “Birthday.”

“Because a kid was just born, and we were like, ‘Ok, this one’s for the kid,'” Scott told the publication earlier today.

Evidently, local Emergency Medical Services responded to a call of a woman giving birth at 11:16pm last night. An EMS public information officer told NOLA.com that the baby was “actually delivered prior to our arrival,” and that all indications were that the child was healthy.

Well done, New Orleans. Well done.
