The baddest bassman himself, Bootsy Collins, plays Tipitina’s on Wednesday, June 15, and OffBeat has a pair of tickets to give to a random lucky reader. This is a must-see for funk fans, with the former James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic (not to mention more-than-accomplished bandleader in his own right) bass player leading an all-star backing band made up of many veterans of the P-Funk universe—Blackbyrd McKnight on guitar, Bernie Worrell and Razor Sharp Johnson on keyboards, and Frankie Kash on drums—as well as Colonel Hardgroove (Public Enemy) and TM Stevens (The Pretenders, Shocka Zooloo) helping on bass and vocals, and full horn and backing vocal sections. DJ Soul Sister (who else?!) opens the show.

To win a free pair of tickets to the concert, fill out the form below, and include your favorite song that Bootsy ever played on. If you’re one of the unlucky few not already receiving it, you’ll be signed up for our award-winning email newsletter, the Weekly Beat. If you don’t win, or don’t want to wait to find out, tickets are $37 and available online. We’ll randomly choose a winner from the entries and email him/her Tuesday morning.
