CAC to require proof of vaccine for White Linen Night, After Dark Party

In an effort to create a safe White Linen Night event, the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), in consultation with its board and staff, announced that admission to White Linen Night, AFTER DARK featuring DJ RQ Away taking place Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 9 p.m. to midnight will require proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours for admission. Admission to the White Linen Night, AFTER DARK event is also subject to the State of Louisiana’s mask mandate for indoor events and reduced capacity in accordance with the City of New Orleans’ COVID-19 regulations.

Guests who have RSVP’d to the sold-out event and are unable to attend should contact the CAC at [email protected].

Before arrival at the event, the CAC encourages Louisiana residents to download the LA Wallet app, the State of Louisiana’s digital license, that allows residents to opt in to display proof of vaccination. The CAC will also accept a valid vaccination card as proof of a vaccination.  Walk up admissions will be considered at the door after 9 pm, depending on capacity.

During the White Linen Night Julia Street art stroll from 6 to 9 p.m., proof of vaccine is not required to view the CAC’s exhibition Behind Every Beautiful Thing: Encountering Bodies, Wrestling the Human Condition, although masks will be required with social distancing encouraged. Capacity limits will be monitored and enforced throughout the evening.

Held in the heart of the Arts District New Orleans (ADNO), White Linen Night features gallery openings from 6 to 9 p.m. at 20 participating galleries along the 300-600 blocks of Julia Street in New Orleans’ historic warehouse arts district, and at the CAC and Ogden Museum of Southern Art on Camp Street. Art lovers can explore specially-curated exhibitions featuring works by local, regional, and internationally-renowned artists while enjoying music, cuisine, and libations. For a complete list of participating galleries, visit the Arts District New Orleans website.  White Linen Night AFTER DARK, the official after-party of White Linen Night, features music by DJ RQ Away, drink specials, food trucks, a CAC VIP Membership Lounge, and more.

Curated by David W. Robinson-Morris, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Reimaginelutionary at The REImaginelution, LLC, the CAC’s 2021 open call exhibition Behind Every Beautiful Thing: Encountering Bodies, Wrestling the Human Condition features works by 36 multimedia artists from the Gulf South states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Texas. The exhibition offers a deeply personal portrayal of  artists’ experiences with health and illness, and the reverberating impact on the life, body, and psyche of the individual and their community.

In tandem with the exhibition, Gia M. Hamilton will present the Gris Gris Lab: An Afrofuturist Apothecary, an arts and healing incubator in the CAC’s Oval Gallery.  The CAC will also host a series of StudioV virtual studio tours featuring CAC exhibition artists on Thursday, August 12 and Thursday, September 2. The exhibition’s programs conclude on Thursday, September 9 with a special panel discussion titled Behind Healing and Wholeness: Art + Health hosted by exhibition curator David W. Robinson-Morris, Ph.D. at the Contemporary Arts Center. Learn more about these programs and RSVP today at cacno.org.
