Delfeayo Marsalis Starts Teaching Residency In Nebraska

New Orleans trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis is taking his musical expertise up North as the Artist-In-Residence at the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska from Thursday, October 15th, to Saturday, October 17th.

“Working with young people from around the world is one of my great passions,” Marsalis said in a public statement this week. “Today’s students are the next generation of great musicians.”

Marsalis will teach high school as well as collegiate players of all instruments and styles, covering concepts of improvisation, techniques of listening, and considerations for interacting in small and large ensembles.

The class will also include discussion and demonstration about the importance of New Orleans Jazz and rhythms in modern music.
