Extended + Brad Walker Debut Concert Film

Brad Walker and Extended have announced the release of their debut concert film, recorded at Esplanade Studios in January 2021. The film is the culmination of an ongoing collaboration between two of the most compelling forces on the New Orleans creative music scene: Walker, with a decade of award-nominated and nationally reviewed records, and Extended, which features three of the leading lights of the jazz scene in New Orleans: Oscar Rossignoli (piano), Matt Booth (bass), and Brad Webb (drums). This project is the result of their extensive work together during the Covid-19 shutdown, the culmination of which is this brand-new set of unique, compelling original music, developed in isolation during some of the darkest months of the pandemic.

Formed in 2016, Extended has two full length albums to its name, with a third soon to be released. Extended has performed at NOLA’s most prominent venues such as Snug Harbor, New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, as well as multiple venues across the country. Brad Walker has performed or recorded with Bernard Purdie, Peter Erskine, John Riley, George Porter, Jr., Anders Osborne, PJ Morton, Marcia Ball, Rickie Lee Jones, Valerie June, Better than Ezra, and Zigaboo Modeliste. Walker has been a featured solo artist for televised shows such as Saturday Night Live, the Grammys, and the Tonight Show with Sturgill Simpson.

Extended + Brad Walker’s film will debut at New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade Avenue, at 7 p.m. May 27. The evening will consist of a short live performance by the ensemble, moderated by Jazz Museum Music Curator David Kunian, to be followed by the film. Tickets are $15 and are available here. The event will take place outdoors, and a cash bar will be available.
