French Quarter Festival lineup released, April 13-16

The French Quarter Festival lineup was announced January 31, featuring major acts like Tank and the Bangas, The Soul Rebels, Big Freedia and many more, April 13-16. See OffBeat‘s searchable database to find out when your favorite band will perform this year.

The festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year as the largest free festival and showcase of Louisiana music, food and culture. Last year’s festival attracted over 800,000 visitors to the city. It started with the vision of bringing locals into the heart of the city to see the talent and culture in their backyards.

This year’s festival highlights 270+ performances from local musicians on 20 stages, including more than 50 debuts acts, as well as regional cuisine from more than 60 local restaurants. The four-day festival will operate from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day of the event.

Artists making their debut include Flagboy Giz and the Wild Tchoupitoulas, Iceman Special, Samantha Fish, Dee1, Los Güiros, Jason Neville Funky Soul Band, Grammy award-winning Michael Doucet & Lacher Prise, LeTrainiump! and more.

In addition, there will also be a featured performance by The Soul Rebels featuring Grammy-nominated Big Freedia. Returning favorites include Tank and the Bangas, John Boutté, Sweet Crude, Robin Barnes and the Fiyabirds, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band and many more.

At the press conference announcing the event,  President and CEO of French Quarter Fest Emily Madero announced that the event will kick off with a parade down Bourbon Street on Thursday, April 13 followed by a performance from Irma Thomas and a fireworks display. Charmaine Neville and Flagboy Giz spoke at the conference praising the festival’s dedication to regional artists and culture bearers.
