G-Eazy selected as Pygmalion’s grand marshall

The “James Dean of rap” and Loyola graduate, G-Eazy was selected as Pygmalion’s grand marshall for Carnival season 2023. Following the parade, G-Eazy will perform with Mannie Fresh and DJ Kelly Green, Saturday, February 11 at 9 p.m., in The Sugar Mill.

The Krewe of Pygmalion’s parade will begin on the corner of Jefferson and Magazine and will make its way through Uptown ending in the CBD near Mother’s Restaurant. The parade will feature 27 floats and more than 1,000 riders, including the floats Jester, Aphrodite, and the Mammoth.

G-Eazy, aka Gerald Gillum, was born in Oakland, CA but established his career in New Orleans around 2010. His work would lead him to opportunities with notable acts like Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg. Since then, he has performed and collaborated with other artists like Shwayze, Logic, Halsey, Carnage, Britney Spears, BB Rexha, Big Sean and A$AP Ferg.

“We’re excited to kick off Mardi Gras 2023 with the biggest parade NOLA has seen from Pygmalion,” said Captain Jack P. Rizzuto in a press release, “I, personally, can’t wait to be atop the Captain’s float and to usher in another amazing carnival season with our Grand Marshall, fellow Loyola alum, and Pygmalion Fest headliner, G-Eazy.”
