Old French Market in the late 19th century.

Historic New Orleans Collection to Host Exhibit on City’s Old School Shopping Scene

“Goods of Every Description: Shopping in New Orleans 1825 to 1925,” the Historic New Orleans Collection’s upcoming exhibit, explores the last century of the city’s cosmopolitan retail scene.

The exhibit will be unveiled on Friday, September 23 at the HNOC’s location on Royal Street. Admission is free and the galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday. The shopping exhibit will remain open until April 9, 2017.

With everything from replica shopwindows to the showrooms that once lined the French Quarter, the exhibition looks to transport guests back into the commercial side of historical New Orleans.
