Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Lee Segarra to Appear on New TV Series

Hurray for the Riff Raff frontwoman Alynda Lee Segarra will make an appearance on the first episode of Cinemax’s new 1970s-era crime drama, Quarry.

Rolling Stone reports that Segarra performs “Something’s Wrong”–an original tune from Hurray for the Riff Raff’s 2012 album Look Out Mama–during the episode, which airs tonight at 10pm. This particular rendition, like all of the performances that appear on the show, was mixed by acclaimed engineers Ed Cherney and Dana Nielsen.

Quarry is based on a series of Max Allan Collins novels of the same name. The books tell the story of a former Marine sniper who becomes a professional assassin after returning home from the Vietnam War. According to Rolling Stone, the new Cinemax program will feature “1970s-appropriate music, performed live in front of the camera by musicians using vintage equipment” whenever possible.

Segarra graced the cover of OffBeat back in February of 2014. You can check out John Swenson’s profile of the New Orleans based singer-songwriter, who has been making waves on the folk music scene for a few years now, here.
