JAMNOLA to Debut New Art at FQF

JAMNOLA, the experiential museum in the Marigny, is set to debut two new art installations and introduce fun activations at the upcoming French Quarter Festival. The museum will sponsor Tank & The Bangas‘ performance on the Abita Stage on Sunday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the festival, JAMNOLA has commissioned local visual artist Farris Armand to create the artwork for Gateway to French Quarter Festival. The artwork features French Quarter landmarks such as Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, and the Mississippi River. It also showcases Louisiana’s cultural heritage, food, and music. The archway can be viewed at Oscar Dunn Park.

JAMNOLA will also showcase a larger-than-life sculpture of Big Chief Monk Boudreaux in the “Garden of Legends” near the Abita stage. The statue is part of a series of sculptures featuring local musicians and culture bearers created by NOLA installation artist Brennan Steele.

JAMNOLA Founder Jonny Liss said, “This year’s art installations solidify our continued collaboration with French Quarter Fest and honoring the music legends of New Orleans. We are so proud to celebrate Big Chief Monk this year.”

Since its opening in August 2020, JAMNOLA has welcomed over 150,000 visitors from across the country to learn about New Orleans’ art, history, and culture through exhibits created by the city’s local artists. The museum donates to local nonprofits, including Feed the Second Line, New Orleans Musicians Clinic, and Roots of Music.
