John Ellis Brings Double-Wide to Snug Harbor

New York Saxophonist John Ellis will present his “NYC-Meets-NOLA band” Double-Wide on Thursday, October 8th, at Snug Harbor.

Backing Ellis are New Orleans sousaphonist Matt Perrine and drummer Jason Marsalis. Organist/pianist Gary Versace and trombonist Alan Ferber complete the line-up.  They will be introducing their recent release, album Charm.

“John Ellis & Double-Wide play serious music that does not take itself too seriously. The band makes its way over uncommon time signatures and modes to produce music that is simply fun.” David Kunian wrote in his review of the album, in this month’s issue of OffBeat Magazine.

Ellis and Double-Wide will play two sets at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available on Snug Harbor’s website.
