Krewe de Lune’s Space Ball Blasts Off

The Krewe de Lune’s 6th Annual Space Ball is ready for takeoff tomorrow night at the Healing Center at 2372 St. Claude Avenue. This year’s theme, Lunes Before Time, is an homage to all things lunar and all things prehistoric. Costumes are strongly encouraged and should be designed to bring you back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the moon.Krewe de Lune Ball 2014

There will be art installations including giant dinosaur puppets, a dry ice volcano, and a sound activated interactive light show.

Best of the Beat winner Jermaine Quiz will perform along with headliners Katey Red and P.Y.M.P. along with beats from DJ Rusty Lazer, Batebunda, DJ Browntown and a dance performance from KDL’s own Star-Steppin’ Cosmonaughties. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and give you all access, including an open bar and photo booth by Deep Fried Photo. After the ball ends at 3 a.m., wristbands from the ball are good for two for one bottles of PBR at Kajun’s Pub on St. Claude.

Tickets can be purchased from a krewe member or at Idle Hands Tattoo Parlour, 1815 Magazine Street, Other Bar, 5039 Freret Street, and Café Istanbul, 2372 St. Claude Ave. For more information or to buy tickets online find Krewe De Lune on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Krewe-de-Lune. Online ticket sales end at 2/28/2014 at 5 p.m.

Krewe de Lune is entering its sixth year with over 100 contributing members. Membership is comprised of young professionals, artists, and business owners. In addition to the KDL annual Space Ball, the celestial bodies of KDL express a philanthropic mission through their season-kickoff Lunar Lagniappe Party. The Star-Steppin’ Cosmonaughties made their parade debut in Pygmalion in 2012, and will bring their sass and sparkle to the 2014 Mardi Gras parade routes.

All sentient beings are welcome. The party starts at 9 p.m. Buy your tickets before they go extinct.
