Local fans of hip-hop and cheap but tasty food should look forward to this Saturday, August 10, which marks the third annual L-O-U Summertime Showcase presented by House of Blues and LouMuzik.com. The showcase, at the House of Blues at 8 p.m., features a headlining performance by local rapper L-O-U, who also founded and continues to promote this event. There will also be performances by NC Boys, Ren Gettz, Blaine Roberts, Collin G, Brandon Coyle, Lil Dee, Rio, Nick Toca and DJ Mastermind. The Summertime Showcase will also put the spotlight on local fashion and food, including specials from Café Royale and Bayou City Wings and the introduction of new clothing lines from Geaux Lay Down, NOLA Team Shirts, and Veritas Apparel.

This is the Summertime Showcase’s third year at the venue and like any grassroots effort, the Showcase comes from humble beginnings. Before its arrival at the HoB, L-O-U’s project began at Café Prytania (now the recently renovated Prytania Bar) back in 2008. The first Showcase focused solely on music and sold out quickly.
After a brief stint at the Howlin’ Wolf, the Showcase found its most recent home at the HoB, where it has grown rapidly—so much in fact that this year marks the first Summertime Showcase Tour, with a show at the Houston House of Blues scheduled and shows at the New York, Las Vegas, Miami and LA HoB locations in the works. Tickets to this year’s New Orleans showcase are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show. More information below.
