Rap group MadeGroceries releases video for hypnotic single “Fall Asleep”

On January 5, MadeGroceries, a rap trio from New Orleans, performed at a prestigious event honoring Cyril Neville. There, the three showcased their talents for a crowd who otherwise may not be aware of the exciting underground hip-hop scene the city boasts.

Now, the three members—Mauley Sincyr, OeauxNeal and Land-Lord—are poised to make 2019 a watershed year in their burgeoning career, which began in 2015.

For the group’s latest video, MadeGroceries pays homage to Wiz Khalifa, covering “Fall Asleep” from the rapper’s 2012 album O.N.I.F.C. Directed by Jose Romero of Writers Bloc Productions, the already mesmerizing track is made even more hypnotic by the scenic backdrop of Luna Fête, the magical light show which transforms New Orleans every holiday season. “The beautiful aesthetic gives downtown New Orleans a totally different vibe from what you would expect,” the group tells OffBeat.com.

“Fall Asleep” is the group’s first release of 2019, a year which will see the arrival of MadeGroceries’ debut project, Don’t Be A Slave. Released via Bob Marley’s Tuff Going International, its first single is “Buku Soul,” arriving tomorrow (January 15). “One Love, One Aim, One Destiny, Feeding Souls from Nola To Jamaica & Beyond” is the group’s mantra.
