Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans Celebrates 8th Anniversary Tonight With “Duets” Kickoff

The Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans (MaCCNO)  will begin celebrating its eighth
anniversary with “Duets: A Celebration Supporting New Orleans’ Music and Culture,” a weekly series of live streamed discussions that will take place between MaCCNO staffers and some of the city’s most beloved artists. Performers  include Arsené DeLay, Joy Clark, Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes, and José Fermín with more to be announced. “Duets” will focus on how New Orleans’ history, cultural policy, and current conditions affect the careers, music, and creative process of its musical guests, and offer some solutions on how we can keep the culture moving forward during these challenging times.

This approach to fundraising is one part cultural talk and one part “virtual rendezvous” that will also give viewers a unique look into New Orleans’ rapidly-changing culture from the perspective of musicians.

“Duets” can be viewed weekly on the Hi-Ho Lounge’s Facebook page beginning Tuesday, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. CDT. One hundred percent of the online donations will go towards support MaCCNO’s programming and mission of organizing and advocating with New Orleans musicians, culture bearers and performers –including the expansion of itsCOVID-19 mini grants and assistance program. These live streamed discussions will also be archived for additional viewing and enjoyment.
