Naughty Professor’s Van Stolen, Band Asks For Community’s Help

Naughty Professor drummer Sam Shahin notified OffBeat today of some bad news: the group’s van was stolen.

It is a white 15-passenger van (2012 Ford E-350) with LA plate 120AAH taken from the 4500 block of Banks Street on the morning of June 4 between midnight and 730 a.m. There is an identifying minor but noticeable injury to the vehicle above the rear taillight on the right side.

While a police report has been filed (report number F-04005-18), the band is eager for help from the community and has launched a GoFundMe fundraising page for a replacement. There, the band writes, “Our beloved tour van went missing sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning this past week in New Orleans.  All indications point to theft, and with this being our only mode of transportation we are in an incredibly tough spot.  In the the modern day music world touring is a significant part of a band’s livelihood. We’ve spent the equivalent of months in that van driving around the country trying to deliver our music to the masses.  Thankfully, we had minimal gear inside and our trailer was not attached, but we had just purchased this van and were planning on relying on it for years of touring ahead. Our June schedule has been dedicated to writing new music and recording so we won’t be back on the road until July before we head out to Europe (secrets out), but we’ll need wheels, and we’re asking for anything at all to help cover our costs in replacing our van. We appreciate all of your support as always and with your help, we hope to be back on the road very soon.”
