New Orleans Jazz Museum hosts stellar night of music with Improvisations Gala

The New Orleans Jazz Museum will host the fourth-annual Improvisations Gala on Saturday, December 4, from 7 to 11 p.m. The Gala will feature an exciting mix of some of the finest local and national musical talents, spectacular New Orleans cuisine, a selection of coveted auction items, and a dazzling Sound Collage installation—all on the grounds of the New Orleans Jazz Museum.

Improvisations will kick off at 7 p.m. with an exclusive patron party, featuring cuisine, cocktails, and a private balcony concert performance by Trumpet Mafia.

The patron party will take place from 7-8 p.m. in the Decatur Street Courtyard with an exclusive choreographed performance by Trumpet Mafia on the ground level and both balconies accompanied by the N’Awlins D’awlins Baby Dolls and Big Queen Mary K. Stevenson of the Wild Tchoupitoulas.  The patron party will also feature craft cocktails with Beam Suntory, a Beattie’s martini bar, and passed hors d’ouevres.

The full Improvisations Gala will open to ticket holders at 8 p.m. and will showcase a stellar lineup, including George Porter Jr., Gregg Stafford, Charmaine Neville Band, Gabrielle Cavassa with Ryan Hansler, Jelani Bauman with Jesse McBride and Derek Douget, Herlin Riley, Mahmoud “Mood” Chouki Band with Oscar Rossignoli, Simon Mouchabeck, Branden Lewis with special guest Detroit Brooks, Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet and others.

In addition to a brilliant celebration of the finest in local music, guests can walk amongst a dazzling showcase of illuminated installations, sculptures, and dance performances as part of The New Orleans Jazz Museum’s Sound Collage experience.

Funds raised from this event directly benefit the New Orleans Jazz Museum, musicians, students, and educators, all working togerher to support New Orleans’ cultural community.
