New Orleans Live, a new weekly one-hour music show featuring all-local musicians will air the first episode of its first season at this Saturday, November 7 at 9pm on WUPL – My Network 54 (the series will also be available via Vimeo On Demand).

Readers of the Weekly Beat and OffBeat.com know that the new series marks a revival of the beloved live music show Louisiana Jukebox. We’ve archived numerous episodes of the old program, which captured performances by countless Louisiana legends and staples over 335 episodes from 1996 to 2005, when Hurricane Katrina destroyed the studio in which it was taped.

Now the concept is slated to return to bring a newer (and older) generation of Louisiana musicians to the masses. The debut episode of New Orleans Live will feature performances by rappers Partners in Crime, bilingual indie-rockers Sweet Crude, neo-soul singer Ashley and comedian Chervé.

The first season of New Orleans Live was taped between August 3 and 11 of this year at Generations Hall in the Warehouse District. Performers that will appear during the first season include Dumpstaphunk, The Soul Rebels, Raw Oyster Cult, Joe Krown Trio, Naughty Professor, New Orleans Suspects, Rockin Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters, Mike Dillon Band, Shamarr Allen & The Underdogs and many more.
