New Orleans Opera Association Unveils 2024-2025 Season Celebrating Women in Opera

The New Orleans Opera Association (NOOA) is set to launch its highly anticipated 2024-2025 season, focusing on the strength, resilience, and power of women in some of opera’s most renowned stories. Under the leadership of its inaugural General and Artistic Director, Lila Palmer, NOOA’s upcoming season promises a captivating blend of classic and contemporary opera experiences. Early Bird Subscription Sale is now open until April 24, offering a 30% discount off single ticket pricing.

The season kicks off with three mainstage productions that have garnered widespread acclaim and audience demand:

TOSCA – This timeless opera of love, passion, and political intrigue set in Rome features celebrated soprano Melody Moore as Floria Tosca, alongside tenor Dominick Chenes as Cavaradossi, baritone Reginald Smith Jr. as Scarpia, and bass-baritone Ivan Griffin as Sacristan. The creative team includes stage director Christopher Mattaliano and conductor George Manahan.

SAMSON AND DELILAH IN CONCERT – Based on the biblical tale of love and betrayal, this concert stars rising dramatic tenor Limmie Pulliam as Samson and soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis as Delilah. Conductor Daniela Candillari leads the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) for this stirring performance.

ELIXIR OF LOVE – A comedic journey of love and mischief, this production features soprano Lindsey Reynolds as Adina and tenor Matthew Swensen as Nemorino. Stage director Ned Canty and conductor Nicholas Fox bring this lively tale to life.

In addition to these mainstage productions, NOOA presents OPERA ON THE BAYOU: VOICES OF NEW ORLEANS on February 5, 2025. This special concert celebrates the city’s unique cultural blend with local operatic singers and the Electric Yat Quartet.

NOOA’s newly appointed General and Artistic Director, Lila Palmer, expresses excitement about the upcoming season, stating, “We’ve curated a season that honors opera’s iconic works while embracing contemporary perspectives. I look forward to sharing these incredible stories with our audiences.”

The 2024-2025 season also includes community and education programs such as Community Conversations, Opera Orientation, and Student Night Out, offering diverse opportunities for engagement and learning.

Tickets for the Early Bird Subscription Sale can be purchased until April 24, with general subscriptions going on sale from April 25. Single tickets will be available from July 1, 2024.
