Vampire-Themed Party Added To Third Annual NOLA Nerdlesque

Get your geek on at the third annual NOLA Nerdlesque, an erotic celebration of all things dorky. Nerdlesque is a burlesque subgenre, notable for satirizing nerd culture, and for its body-positive philosophy. OffBeat reported on the basics of the festival when it was first announced in September, but details of some additional events have been announced, and they sound bloody fun.

This year’s festival–curated and presented by local burlesque producers Remy Dee, Persé Fanny, Vincent Gallant, May Hemmer, and Honey Tangerine–will feature 35 local and national Nerdlesque pros, led by internationally acclaimed headliner Dangrrr Doll. They will perform as comic book characters, fantasy creatures, and more.

The quirkiness kicks off with a Vampire-themed party, “From Bust Til Dawn,” on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Valliant Theatre & Lounge (6621 St. Claude Ave.). Admission is free with a $5 suggested donation. Proceeds will go towards hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.

The fun continues Nov. 3 and 4, with four separate revues at the Contemporary Arts Center (900 Camp St.), all highlighting different aspects of Nerdlesque culture. For those interested in fully immersing themselves in the Nerdlesque experience, there will be two workshops held at the New Orleans School of the Burlesque (830 North Rampart St.), run by professional performers.

Festival tickets are available now for $15. Check out some photos of last years festival, below.
