Tuba Skinny is among the acts scheduled to perform as d.b.a. reopens its outdoor venue.

Outdoor live music resumes in the courtyard venue of d.b.a.

With cooler fall temperatures on the horizon in New Orleans, the live music venue d.b.a. has reopened its outdoor music space, but under a new name. Thanks to a suggestion by pianist John “Papa” Gros, club owner Tom Thayer says the location at 619 Frenchmen Street previously known as d.b.a. at Palace Market will now be known as d.b.a. Inside Out.

The outdoor venue opened earlier this year in May as a means of providing a safe space for musicians and patrons during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The courtyard stage closed throughout the summer months.

Thayer explained the need for an expansion. “Faced with a global pandemic, we’ve all been affected especially hard—musicians, music venues and music fans alike,” he said. “Live music is the fabric of New Orleans culture and community, but while we’re eager to get back to what we love, it’s important that we do it mindfully and responsibly. With that task at the forefront, I’ve become re-energized to re-imagine DBA as we move forward. We’re now expanding DBA to the cool outdoor space of the Palace Market and giving the New Orleans community a safe place to enjoy what we all love, live music on Frenchmen Street.”

Acts booked in the coming weeks at both the indoor and outdoor versions of d.b.a. will include the following:
